Really appreciate the mention -- Being vulnerable for vulnerability sake isn't a good thing to share on the internet. More important is to share what was learned, honestly, so others may learn from it. That's the value, and I'm truly honored to hear our story is a catalyst to make these discussion happen.

And as for Tara -- I love you girl. I still don't know what to do with my life either. ;)

Re: The debate is over: comments are a failed experiment

This is really informative and a lot of thought went into this post, congrats! In my earlier years I spend years in Ministry and serving over seas as a missionary helping underground house churches in the former Soviet Union where people were persecuted for their faith. I helped build orphanages and personally marched food & medicine into poor areas of Hungary, Venezuela, and inner-city Atlanta.

One day I look forward to getting back to this kind of "hands on work," only this time with my teenage children joining me.

What are you, "sdfsdf" doing to help humanity?

Re: The Twitter millionaires: Is there hope for the average Joe in Silicon Valley?

Love this, "A real "pivot" mentality can never produce a great product - you have to pivot within the corridor of your vision, not beyond it." I'm not saying the point is to create "A Good Cause" (though that too would be amazing), my position is to focus on building a company with long term influence & value - not to gain a quick buck. Steve Jobs, Richard Branson, & Marc Benioff spent decades building companies that impact the world.

And while you've stated Steve Jobs never set out to make a difference in society, I would argue he already has. It may not be in the form of monetary donation with his name on it, or an orphanage or water well, but he has made an impact.

Re: The Twitter millionaires: Is there hope for the average Joe in Silicon Valley?

Amen to start-up communities in other metropolitan areas Cody. Startups are popping up all over the world these days and proving that SV is not the only viable location to start a company.

To my point though, how do we help entrepreneurs wherever they may be focus on growing companies for impact and not merely for personal gain?

Re: Addvocate: Social Media Steroids for Big Brands

Thank you for the write up Drew, very much appreciated.
