The power of identity and connections should reside with the user...on the other side, SRM is also a philosophy and tech platform for improving experiences and adapting to market evolution.

Re: The Future of the Social Web

Great post Brian -
Reading these comments, I'd have to agree with Brandon Sutton in that Facebook is the 800 lb. Gorilla leading the way, but they are far from being a Switzerland of identity management. There needs to be an intermediary that manages this identity - OpenID is close (and getting better), but still far from being widely accepted as the platform of Identification management.

A true SRM should (would) be an agnostic profile service that the end-user controls. Let them manage and release data points to whomever & wherever they decide. That'd be the killer social app.

Re: Salesforce.com offers contact management for businesses of one

Yes, it is different than the Group edition. Point taken Marcus, and congratulation on the funding.
And your advice is sound, to not be too stuck on what one does and be unafraid to tweak it!
--
I think my way will end up being affiliate marketing, by creating a website/blog, and then placing home-made ads that link to affiliate marketing links.
However, I will tweak it until it works :)

Re: Business models that your startup can use to generate revenue

Hey SamRag --
Just so you know, at the time this was written (early June), UserVoice had just announced receiving funding - but, we had been utilizing the Freemium model since December '07. We were no more 'Big Boys' than anyone else. The point is just to pick a model you feel comfortable with and execute. If it doesn't pan out right away, tweak it a bit! Treat it all as an experiment till something sticks! :)

Re: Joomla Suppporters Club | Joomla GPS - brian.teeman.net

@brianteeman -
Good to be here - Not sure what the immediate use was for, but it was inferred that it was going to be something more long term, oh well. :)

@Helio -
At least they know we're here. There's been some good integration recently with a UserVoice module for Joomla, especially Single Sign On -- check it out here: http://bit.ly/wWEFo We're pleased to be a part of the open-source community and can hope to be as much a part of Joomla as we are now with http://rails.uservoice.com and http://openid.uservoice.com

Re: Joomla Suppporters Club | Joomla GPS - brian.teeman.net

Nice to see you here Marcus. It's shad they are not using your services. I believe it is a great product and a great way to get users feedback but in order it to work they need to advertise the service and need to update it and let know members which features they are implementing in the next release.

Let's hope they will use it more in the future.

Re: Joomla Suppporters Club | Joomla GPS - brian.teeman.net

@Helio --
Someone from Joomla created an official UserVoice page a few months back: http://joomla.uservoice.com/ but it does not appear that they are actively using our service.
