I can't exactly type at full speed on it, and while I think I'll get faster, I doubt I'll ever be as fast as on a full size or as on my Portege.  The 1000, however, is suitably larger (my sister got one for school).  If you plan on just going with windows the 1000H (H = hard drive, instead of the solid state) is a good deal, especially since they just recently lowered the price again in anticipation of further additions to the line.
