I find it's always better to listen the most & speak minimally. Unless I'm asked a question I don't tend to speak up. It's always more interesting to hear from others who may/not be the foremost expert on whatever. It's also a great way to weed out the BS'ers.

twitter may replace the AP steam, but I don't see it displacing RSS. There's no easy way to group or have a history of posts in twitter. With RSS I can be offline for awhile & return to data from several days, twitter is more real-time.

at home I can only do single sided. I forced the concept at my company on 8/10 printers. It did save a whole lot of paper. (they were going through a pallet of paper per month, that was changed to every 2 months; accounting was biggest waste of paper)

The optimal solution if it's a networked printer is to have 2 printer choices on a desktop: single sided & duplex.

of all the printers I've worked with, they hide that function rather deep into the driver, thus it's never used.

add on to that, I'd say 9/10 printers don't have that option, it's usually adds a few $100 to the cost.

For the most part I don't see much point on guessing the worth of a private company; other than for private investment. It tends to create unnecessary criticism, which (if the company is concerned/aware about it's public image) can create internal havoc. Plus for those public companies which are competing in the same market; they're under greater scrutiny from their shareholders.

I can't wholly understand how many software services can be worth $XMM? Sure some companies have a wealth of customer data(eventually to be auctioned off); but others purely provide a service...Friendfeed.

I have a USAA bank account. What should be mentioned is that USAA started as a bank for US military officers & their families(my father was Marines). Yes it's small, & mostly internet based; though there is a teller office in San Antonio, TX. But most of their clients are military personnel who are constantly on the move, which makes the ease of check depositing all the more necessary.

They're based in Philadelphia, but they have an office & cafe in NYC. I think in TriBeCa. Can't remember where though.

a few years ago I remember that Verizon was keeping payphones in NYC; but using them as repeaters for mobile broadband & WiFi. Though there isn't a need for a great many of them; they shouldn't be nullified. There are often places where cell signal is rare, or you battery is dead, or you're lost & need to use a local phone # to make a call.

Well....most large companies still use IE6, because their core softwares don't support IE7 or IE8, let alone FF, Opera, Safari. In my company, all of IT uses Firefox, for browsing, but has to use IE for the core ERP, JDEdwards. We recently upgraded to a newer version of JDEdwards, but even still we had to apply registry hacks to get IE7 to work.

JDE's support for IE8, FF, et al is nonexistent.

just got this book in the mail yesterday, from Amazon. Hopefully this will help to explain why there are so many Africans in China, especially those working in the streets or singing with the Thai bands in Xintandi & such.

I'd be interested to see if you could break out *nix, Windows & Mac users. I use all 3, so I'd throw the #s off. Taking geeks/techies out the field, I'd say Windows users are less Internet savvy. People who've used computers long enough will tend to move to *nix or Mac; after having gotten too frustrated with Windows.

how is it for heat production? doesn't seem to have many holes on the front or back? Also for a vmware cluster wouldn't you just do ESXi & boot from the SD card & store all the guests on the cloud/SAN?

yes & no. If your blog is about you & your adventures then yes, give it up & lifestream(though I don't particularly like that buzzword)

if you're writing about a topic, & there's minimal personfication, then no. I read a lot of different blogs, which I don't think would be as interesting or as easy to follow if they were spread out all over the place. (E.g., foodie, storage, travel)

and if you're going to show "top blogs" it would be worthwhile being able to look at the whole list &/or the top 15+ or so; not so much those in close proximity to me.

I've been using Gmail for serveral years now, and am now running into the issues of too much email as well...I've started to use labels & colors more(through labs) and am learning the boolean search terms. Recently I did "is:unreadh in:inbox from:twitter subject:following", this helped a lot as before I'd just search for twitter & get deleted or archived emails.

I'd look through the "labs" there are a lot of useful tools in there

the Royal Park in Sha Tin can also be cheaper, HKD1000/night; & can get cheaper if you stay a week or more. Though if you're working in Central it would be a long commute everyday; basically the first place to stay if you're coming from Shenzhen.
