We need a new model that measures engagement. Real-time comments are the ultimate sticky. Have to agree with Leo Laporte here - "Facebook shows its leadership. Combining public and private facing services is a big win. Facefeed is a winner."

Our little community hits the big-time, shouldn't we celebrate tonight with a cheer to success?

Re: These are reasons I stay interested in Social Media

Was thinking along the same lines with regard to the Best Buy campaign. SocialNets are to empower the conversation on a broader scale but only become interesting when real. The big Co's who realize the power of speaking in a 'real' voice are moving the needle. Before the advent of larger screens, I just couldn't see the medium being conducive for imaginative scale 'scenes.' Now of course, our platform is the hand - by sheer nature we're engaged, on the move and want our content in the context of our real-world.

For me, this is the perfect convergence of immediate message delivery and response measurement. I'm interested in reading the findings from Millennial Media as we race towards bringing more support for independent film and music.

Thanks for covering this so thoroughly.

Re: Amy Czerniec and the dog that broke her heart

All the best to Amy. I believe though that CNN may be thinking of doing a co-branded network/ webcast using Twitter to crowd source 'real-time' news. The amount of hyper plugs/ positioning being given away by CNN must be on the radar screen of the brass there. I understand local stations pumping Twitter to get engaged content but CNN? If it is just to be 'cool' then CNN has basically given up on trying 'the source' for news. But... what if... CNN used their 'pro-anchors' (used loosely) to anchor the live stream? It would not cost a lot and Twitter would share ad dollars (wow actually make money.) I can't see a down side here.

Re: Fred Tumwebaze And The Power Of Social Media

Steve,

Thank you for responding with your heart. Note the use of the hyper music cues (a step down from Carl Stalling). Trippy though. I've read the Chuck enjoyed these longer 'shorts' as a way to stretch his imagination. By this period, his body of work was so significant in size and importance. I'm amazed that he was able to find new colors to paint with. He only had himself to 'compete' with as there were no others in his league.

Re: The wrong people are promoting Social Media

Our ancient selves long for community - we fall all over new ways to tap on rocks, trade stone for wire then the ether.
