Look how hot this shit is.... | Tumblr Staff

Don't get me wrong, i love the new look, and how *all* the advanced controls are there now. The main reason is so that I don't have to keep switching between the bookmarklet pop-up and the page i'm writing about.

The posterous bookmarklet stays fixed so that even while I'm scrolling around my focus and text entry etc are still in view.

Something else neat would be that while you are in the "tumble" mode, with the bookmarklet activated, you could allow for users to click on an image on the page and automatically use that as the photo post, as opposed to having to search the tiny thumbnails for the image you are looking for; this is excruciating when the page has a ton of images :P

I'm not a fan of Posterous, so I shall continue to use tumblr obviously, cos it's awesome, but I was really hoping for this in the upgrade :\

Thanks!

Re: Talking to Erlang

Looks cool. And perhaps release a standalone Disqus app later on, that implements the entire Disqus API...

My goal here was simply moderation and to play around with the API.

Re: Motivism

Yeh I know, right? WHERE?!?!

If you really, truly want to understand how evolution works take a course in Microbiology. Most people brush off Evolution as "just a theory" because they take the Macro view on it - "Oh so monkeys became other monkeys and then we came along".... If you look at that way, it sounds very silly indeed. However, think of this way (I'm going to try not to go into too much hardcore biology :P):

I'll address your qualm with "mutations" first. So you are partially right that that mutations for the most part are a bad thing. I'd have to correct you in that it's not a "loss" of genetic information but rather a change of it. And this goes wayyyy down into the DNA level, not "obama" change we can believe in macro type shit. Essentially DNA fails to copy accurately. There are two types that I know of from my limited biology classes i took in college:

1. Most of the mutations that scientists agree really matter to evolution are “naturally-occurring.” For example, when a cell divides, it makes a copy of its DNa and sometimes the copy is not quite perfect. That small difference from the original DNA sequence is a mutation.

2. However there are those mutations that are caused by chemicals and radiation. So in this case, if a cell does get, say, radioactively mutated, it will try to repair whatever damage was caused to the DNA... And because radiation=really bad and hard to reverse, the DNA ends up different that before... and VOILA a mutation.

So 2 types of mutation, Spider-man chemical mutations and X-men natural mutations (as a result of imperfect cell duplication).

Convinced yet? =)

AND

Becca: Fucking fantastic post. I definitely know which side I'll be standing on... How about the US Govmnt wage a war on disease, fuck terror, drugs and whatever else they like to wage "wars" against. Stem Cells FTW!

Re: Humanist

The coolest thing is that it's pretty damn accurate.
