I remember pre-ad supported Geocities. Then when they added the floating "g" watermark everyone got upset. And then once they called down from that then ads were added as well. Now the Internet seems odd *without* ads.

Angelfire was a big player too. I remember people were passing around "codes" ( if memory serves me right CSS ) that would disable the adbar at the top.

Wow...the web sure has changed in the last 10 years.

One issue with the new Facebook design is the way integrated apps are displayed now. The functionality of FeedHeads and FriendFeed is dramatically less thanks to the new design, which simply says you have activity there, without being specific. Feedheads was essentially the main reason I ever joined Facebook. Now that it's weakened, and Scrabulous is on hiatus, I can't think of why I'd log in.

Combining " the wall " with my feed seems a bit confusing. Also, the new Facebook " homepage " seems useless. Its a duplicate of my profile page. And when you click on, " Update Status ", "Add Photos", "Add Videos", etc... at the top, it redirects you to your profile page. Why not just make your profile page the homepage?

Also, as people mentioned with their feeds that it shows " Gary had activity on FriendFeed " -- there is an edit button when you mouseover and you can choose, " 1 line, Short, or Full ( full depends on the feed item ) " -- why isn't there a setting under " settings " above the feed that says, " Always display as Short. " ( or full, or 1 line, etc... )

It just seems that there is a lot of more clicking to get to things now. The layout is nice, but the user experience could be improved. A lot.

I don't like where they put the " Latest tweet " -- the update button looks out of place. Latest tweet should be above or below the input area.

Also its hard to tell which tab is active. Would be nice if the " inactive " tabs were an alternate color to help distinguish. ( Or if they didn't have a color. )

A truly amazing experience. I purchased 20 apps today. Cro-Mag is one of THE best racing games I have played. The controls are amazing. As you move the iPhone the "screen" stays in the same place. Its a trip!

Remote is sexy. AOL Radio was great. Twitterrific - wow and a built in mini-browser! And the list goes on. And to think... this is just the beginning.

Staying logged into Disqus is definitely a time saver. Sometimes I go to other sites and I look at the comments box and think "Why am I not logged into Disqus?". Really they weren't using Disqus, but I'm so used to not having to type such things in now just to leave a comment. Disqus has spoiled me.

Well said. And at the end of the day there is only so much we can keep up with -- no matter what service it happens to be.

I will say... Disqus has increased my participation in blog commenting. Just always being "logged in" to comment without having to go through email verification 3x is great.

I hope this goes public in a big way. As a mac user... I've noticed many things labeled as " PC only " do have mac drivers if you go to the website. They just don't put in on the box. Its just sad for a " mac tax " all due to branding and the thought of... " well Mac users are used to paying more... "

It adds the music to your iTunes Library.

Now if only it were easier to browse for new music... Amazon MP3 Downloader could have an integrated store?

I agree with this to some extent. I believe Apple needs to overhype their iTunes Plus model. And yes, its $.99 too.

Also the store is getting "really" busy. Even if there were main tabs across the top similar to iPhone sync that said " Music, Movies, TV Shows, Music Videos, etc... " Would help to break it up a bit.

Many times once something is successful the owner is very cautious about making huge changes to a thing.
