I would try setting it for a day, then if they were still at the event, go for another day, then another, until it was over.

The problem with this is how do you set the time-out period? What if the event lasts a week, but the person tweets about it for more than a week? What if the person tweets about it for just the two days he/she/it is actively participating in the event?

Not that I don't like the idea... just that I don't see how it would work (although I would very much appreciate it if it did). Anyway, just my $0.02...
