I didn't go into the details of using the Windows 7 installation wizard as this was more of an overview than a step-by-step guide, but it's essentially the same process as you remember from before, it's just that the screen is a lot prettier now. :)

When you install the OS, you're asked if you want to do an upgrade or a clean (custom) install. You'll want to do the custom install. On the next screen, you'll be able to pick which partition you want to use. You'll see options to delete and reformat partitions there, too. This is where you'll be able to reformat your drive.

I found this article which has some nice screenshots of what I mean: http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/?q=node/366

Re: "Upgrading" from Windows XP to Windows 7 in 5 Steps

Yes, you should always deauthorize before removing iTunes (which is
essentially what you're doing with a clean install). However, Apple
gives you 5 authorizations under your account, so it's not a big deal
if you forget. I'm not familiar with deauthorizing Adobe products.

Re: "Upgrading" from Windows XP to Windows 7 in 5 Steps

Yes, you should always deauthorize before removing iTunes (which is
essentially what you're doing with a clean install). Outside of the hardware, the Pre is a pretty amazing device thanks to WebOS. They just need some more apps now. You are doubly blessed. I can't believe how small they were in the beginning - the size of a remote control, OMG! It's hard to believe that it's already been a year. I'll play! WinterBoard is my favorite customization app - it lets me change everything from the Springboard background to the sliders to the battery icon itself (mine's pink & green - so cute!). I love changing the wallpaper on my phone a lot (& my PC, too - love those Win7 themes!) so this app looks great. Even if I don't win a code, I'm def going to check it out. Thanks for the recommendation!

Re: Welcoming Corvida To The Team As Our New Editor!

Thank you Sarah!!! :D

Re: Welcoming Corvida To The Team As Our New Editor!

CONGRATULATIONS!

Re: mockriot

Congratulations! Fortunately updating both works well for me since I want all my tweets (other than replies) to go to both

I totally agree that this is clunky right now.

I'm trying to get a vanity url for my FB public page too and apparently you have to ask FB for it right now

Re: A New Approach To Facebook

If you mean this one (http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id...), the most popular of the Twitter apps, it will.

However, it will update your personal profile with your tweets as well!

That's the problem with these "public profiles" - no separation between the public fan page and the personal profile.

Only 2 workarounds: 1) Create a separate acct for managing your public profile (fan page). Note: violates TOS, as I understand it.

or

2) Create a business account.

Re: A New Approach To Facebook

Sarah

I read your post when you wrote it but I went back and re-read it just now

It's a great piece of reporting and analysis

Thanks for doing it

Do you know if the twitter facebook app will publish my tweets to my "public
page"?
