Days after completing an important step in his rehab process by facing hitters for the first time since landing on the injured list, Red Sox ace Garrett Crochet has suffered a setback that will extend his return timeline even further into the future.

Crochet is experiencing lat (side/back) tightness and will not throw his live batting practice session Tuesday, as was scheduled. Instead, he’ll undergo further tests — likely including an MRI — to make sure that the issue isn’t serious. For now, he’s not throwing

I’ll be interested to see, if implemented, how the teams above and below the set targets go about becoming compliant. Does the current CBT tiered penalties for gong over still apply and likewise, those who continue below the set target.

Whitlock listed as day to day with left knee soreness. Slipped on a wet mound on Sunday while warming up. Imaging came back clean.
