We had a training on Wednesday night and it was so hectic. I really dislike using a babysitter if at all possible...even family.
I'm married. We've been together 8 years. You CAN do it solo...my SIL, before she married my little brother, did it as a single woman for 4 years. She took "last chance" kids who would go to a group home if they blew her placement. It was a big motivation for her to be extra patient and understanding. She considered adopting one boy, (age 10) however, it didn't work out. It sounds like your goal all along is to adopt, would you consider adopting solo?
It's been a long time since your last child. If it's not too personal, what's kept you away? It sounds like you are such great parents to these kids, you really make a difference in their lives. I particularly liked your post about the birthday party, and having folks from the home town come out. It's inspired me to do the same, going forward, if it feels right. I find that my gut is a good indicator of what I should do with my little people.
Sean, I'm so glad you responded so quickly. You may email me directly if you like. It's always nice to have a friend that really gets your situation.
Hope to hear from you soon!
~Sarah
sarahfarmers at gmail do tcom

Re: Saying goodbye to the foster kids and winding down....

Well I am taking advantage of the time without any placements to catch up on the required trainings to keep my foster parenting license.

It's very difficult/next to impossible to make time for this when there are kids around. I just wrapped up my requirements. Now I'm starting to think about what to do next. Am I ready for another placememnt?

Are you doing this solo? I have not tried that myself. I wonder how feasible it is...

Thanks for the comment. :-)

Re:

I'm not sure his business clients know what to make of that! But the newsletter is more personal than business focused (which is why I read it, I also have no interest in sales & marketing.)

I've always said, quality over quantity. And I don't consider myself a brand. I've had people let me know someone else is using the name "Banannie" as if I should be upset by that! It's a nickname, there are lots of Banannies out there :). Of course, if someone was using the name Pixel Currents, I'd be concerned and look to protect it- but that's business, and that's where branding belongs.

Nice tangent :).

Re: My own REAL numbers

Nice post, I agree that metrics are important for everyone. Chris Brogan, while a great mind who is enjoying some popularity, appeals to the marketing segment of the web. As someone who has little interest in sales/marketing as a function, I can't say I agree on these priorities.

I'm not convinced that we're all brands. I'm not convinced that one approach fits all makes sense.

I'm more like you. I'm interested in the social connectedness that the web offers. The # of followers or page views means so little to me [on a personal level]

I find the most rewarding aspects are the simple pleasures of e-meeting people and learning about things that are outside our our day to day.

Re: Goaltending

Good luck. Thanks for the well wishes! I must admit, I am proud Sony chose me but also really glad to know they understand that social media and the bloggosphere needs authenticity and thrives on trust. I'm a real person with a love of innovation and a passion for community building. I can't wait to put what I learned from my time with Seesmic to work at Sony. Community is so important to me... and I am such a gadget nerd... I'm smiling just thinking about what is ahead! BUT before all this starts, I gotta find an apartment! =) SO much to do.

Thanks again for the comment here Sean! If you had asked people before the healthcare debate started, what was their biggest concern next to the economy, health care/insurance issues would have been on top of mind.

now the debate is skewed to 'we cant afford it' meaning that people would rather gamble with their homes, retirement accounts, and financial health when they get sick.

someone needs to get people to understand that when you get sick and insurance companies deny deny deny, the bankruptcy court is the cure if we dont address this gaping hole in the fabric of american society.

enough ranting....
nice vest!

Re: But I don’t have an iPhone

As an iPhone user, I can see how annoying it would be to everyone else, seeing all these companies offering customized apps that are useless to everyone other than iPhone users.

At first I was perplexed as to why iPhone users are so lucky but just today I saw an article that said very soon iPhone cameras would be the #1 camera on flickr. That really surprised me.

I can only imagine that that companies are looking for the easiest win when doing a mobile app. The resources to develop apps are limited so if you had to pick one platform I can see why iPhone would be it.

I guess that's a long winded way of saying sorry!

Re: Courting Customers Instead of VCs

Makes perfect sense to me. To this fact, add the youth and inexperience of some 'leaders' in addition to nature of technology and we see the result.
