Luckily, there is one for Identica!

And yes, for the publisher part we actully use streams or APIs that are not necessarily feeds. The identica example is a good one, once again, as we use their XMPP stream for that purpose.

Re: Superfeedr Blog : PubSubHubbub for Everybody

Now that I reread it I see where I made an assumption. I thought by subscribing I would be getting a firehose of updates from the wordpress or identica of all public posts not just a specific publishers posts. for the "for profit" version could the publisher part be a custom source and not rss or atom?

Re: Superfeedr Blog : PubSubHubbub for Everybody

Interesting. I think that would be quite easy to do actually.... But since they already use Google's hub, what would be the point? Aggregation of that data? It's just that the "readers" are not using that data for article presentation. Sure just using the category element isn't going to have a great signal to noise ratio but if you've followed the "it’s all about the data not the algorithm" meme alot of the data is already there. I found it to be a much better way to consume RSS then the standard per feed way. I'm pretty excited about lazyfeed and I truly hope they do very well because if they do others will mimic and maybe one day I can stop maintaining my own rss feed reader project.

Btw can i get an invite? I'm smilbandit on every site.

Re: louisgray.com: Should RSS be Jettisoned On the Information Journey?

I built my own reader because I wanted to consume feeds my own way rather then stringing together a bunch of services. With the resent uncertainty of the google products and how much development reader may or may not get, I think i'm going to just go with plan b. In plan b I'll just setup a second wordpress blog or use tumblr and use the xmlrpc interface to create a share feed.

Re: louisgray.com: RSS Overload: Don't Complain, Do Something About It

Smilbandit,

That's very interesting. So, I built my own and annotated the development on this blog, http://www.tubejumper.com/. The app isn't pretty but I'm not a graphics person, just a coder. I've been wanting to move what i've built to python/php/mysql and open source it but just haven't had the time.

Re: Prioritizing and Organizing Feeds in Google Reader

What google reader really needs is something to either make use of an rss items categories as tags or some form of saveable search feature. That way you can create a folder that has all the items about one topic no matter what feed it's from. I've been dinking around with this for a few years and it works out great for me.

Re: Prioritizing and Organizing Feeds in Google Reader

I think that is why they have the ability to put multiple items within
different categories. There would be no way for TwitterGadget to function without going thru their API, so the ASP page has to live on the TwitterGadget server.
