I'm just getting started on this investor-adventure and @wp pointed me in the direction of this post. One "metric" or measurement I'm planning to look at is the level of impact I was able to have on the company's early success. Keep in mind, I'm investing super early -- typically the very first round and sometimes the first check.

If a company goes on to gain traction and I was able to bring them the right hire, the right partner or assist them in developing the right product that significantly helped them to raise their next round, bring on a large customer or raise consumer awareness I'd consider that an early sign of success on my part. I'm much more interested in understanding if I'm choosing and being chosen by the right companies where I can provide value to them early on.

I'd be fine with them not putting back the "Start" button as long as apps never dropped me back into the classical interface. I love the tile view and it's got that slick search built in but when it takes you out, it's hard to get back in.

I agree. We just took a bunch of our startups down to DC to meet Pelosi, Polis and a number of other people in congress and the senate and one thing I learned -- Leverage your congressmen or congresswomen after you've filed sometime to force through a response. They can't lobby on your behalf but they can step in *after* you start the process.

Ben, with the new release you are now able to export any view as a CSV. Simply click on any report and you'll see an option in the top right of the box or at the bottom of the list to export it.

Eric, we totally appreciate your support. :) And yeah, not all of these work for everyone but I have found the stress balls to help me focus on a problem I'm trying to solve. Squats are not a bad idea either and can be done in a small space (like a cube or a 2-man office in SoHo).
