Either many people didn't "get it" or it failed in portraying the message. To make me sick,Scorsese could have shown me the ramification of his actions while he was living this lifestyle. Instead we had Belfort in the movie. If we were supposed to hate the decadence portrayed, why would he put him in at the end of the movie? We were supposed to boo when we saw him announcing Leo at the end in New Zealand.

I'm just making my argument, but I'm honestly happy that you can see the movie in your own way. If anything, that's maybe the brilliance of the film - that people can take away different things. I believe any movie that can evoke different emotions from different people can be successful in that way.

Thanks for the comment - I enjoy a different point of view. Chris and I see too much eye-to-eye on things.

Re: How To Build An Online Community With Steve Kamb – Ep. 36

This Podcast REALLY came at the right time for me while trying to build up http://everyonepodcasts.com - I can certainly use a lot of tips and ideas that were provided to hopefully make it a good resource for Podcasters or those looking to get started in Podcasting. With that, I now have great respect for his ability to create entertaining content.

I also heard him as a guest on Neil deGrasse Tyson's podcast, and Neil seemed quite fond of him and his curious nature. You'd figure a famous person that has been around and studied since 44 BCE, we would already have a detailed knowledge, but we continue to find out more through books like these. Sometimes history feels like a movie we've only seen the best parts of, but with books like this we stick around for the credits and really learn a thing or two.

Re: [Discussion] Media and the Business of Misinformation

I don't blame you at all, but you have an uninformed public and you get the politics that we have right now. Imagine the confusion and psychological effect of having one of your heroes wipe out civilization. Pretty traumatic. As far as his memories - I'm not so sure how we can judge how cloning of humans might work, especially with Aliens involved. It's not much of a sci-fi stretch.

I've been really disappointed in the reviews I've seen of this movie for the most part. It seems like it's too much for the attention span of most Americans and our YouTube generation. Sad because I want to see more original sci-fi.

Re: First World Problems of the Day - The Daily What

How do most of you not realize he's just goofing? In the old days customer service was about keeping YOU happy (and maybe some close friends and relatives), but now bad service can go "viral"and the ramifications are far reaching. It really doesn't even need to be a big name to make that happen, which should scare companies.

So, yep - businesses would be rise to re-evaluate. Great article.

Re: Gladwell Is Right. People feel they can sleep well at night because they used a hashtag, added a twibbon, or used a color in their avatar, but REAL activism is action.

I'm not saying that people aren't willing, because there are a lot of terrific people doing "real" things, but they're in the minority I fear.

People may point to social media and the impact on the last election. I'm not sure that social media and networking tools were necessary for that, but it didn't hurt... and maybe that's the point. Social media and networking are simply a tool for real networking - getting out and organizing in a group. However, when used as the FOCUS, these "tools" can have the opposite effect of inaction, where a tweet or a status becomes a substitute for real support.

Re: The Super Secret Leadership Problem Everybody Knows About Already.

This really starts at the top of an organization - and sets the tone for the senior and middle managers down the line. Most org charts to me are upside down. The person "at the top" is actually at the bottom supporting the foundation for the rest of the company. If that foundation fails, it will be very unstable for the rest. Each level below (above in my scenario) is another layer that can fail - but again, it all starts with whoever is in charge of it all.

Re: Social Media Humanization

Thank you for that link - it is good stuff. I think we're about to reach a tipping point with this as social media adoption has increased. It's also an issue that crosses boundaries between the PR/Marketing department and HR. I think companies may need a Digital Communications Department eventually - with people hired specifically for this. They'll be PR/Marketing, HR and IT all rolled into one. So far each department believes social media to be THEIR piece to run in one way or another.

Re: Social Media Humanization

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. Do you feel like this could be a double-edged sword for a company? People leave companies for various reasons - some good, some bad. What happens to those relationships that have been formed on behalf of the company? This has obviously been a big subject lately with the firing of Rick Sanchez on CNN. How does a company handle this transition?

Hopefully it happens under positive circumstances, but if not, couldn't that relationship made through the humanization of the people behind things tarnish the brand as it once helped it?

Re: Tackling America’s Literacy Problem From A Better Direction

Hey Jason, great cause - there are staggering literacy issues (and education in general) in our country.
