I'll probably want some real time functionality in my apps at some point, and Wave looks promising with the combination of robots and gadgets. I would suggest that Etherpad gain at least one of those two to stay interesting.

Re: How Twitter is Dethroning the Old Guard

Wrong x 3:

1. Facebook is the successor to MySpace, not Twitter.
2. Twitter search is largely useless. There is almost no distinct information in the stream, just the same phrases repeated. And as for just asking in a tweet, not everyone has a pool of 20,000 followers to answer questions for them. It's a waste of time to manually answer when Google can actually find what you want from anywhere on the web. It is indexing new content constantly and can show you today's and the past's results.
3. Some people are using Twitter as a primary communication tool, but it is only one among the tons of avenues such as email, IM, and web message boards (including social networks and social news). The stream is filled with so much garbage that you can't have a real discussion without seeing tons of automatically posted updates. Twitter is good to have open in a window and just glance at it occasionally out of boredom, not to be used for actual correspondence.

Re: Digg dumps Shouts for Facebook, Twitter and email

They figured they'd use the spam to reach the vast numbers of Twitter and Facebook users rather than just annoy each other.

Re: Wolfram Alpha: I can’t believe it’s not Cuil!

Give it time.

Re: The Pop-Alypse

Wouldn't you want to keep radioactive dust out of your lungs?

Re: Things I've Found | 4. Let's see...

The thing about those games is that your opponent is a human being, so feuds and so on can emerge without needing to be simulated algorithmically. I the same way I pen and paper game where a human "game-master" controls the reactions of NPCs makes for a non-linear experience. Thus it's not really a virtue of the game itself but of the performers behind it - the author can't claim credit for this and neither can the medium itself.

Your move white king :P

Re: Non-lethal fights with lethal weapons

I always thought Monopoly and Risk had fairly engaging non-linear story lines, so it is feasible to make players run the simulation manually. Just, board games need to have a reasonable, intuitive calculations and some kind of visual representation the game state.

Re: What tools does an artist need?

Yeah, I just recently got Parallels, and it works reasonably well, speed is not much of an issue really, but rather would prefer it just being in one OS.
It's not quite as seamless as it could be, and can be a bit buggy, running two OSs at the same time.
For example it doesn't manage input devices like tablets well which is a bit of a bummer =/

Re: What tools does an artist need?

You could try Parallels for running various Windows-only 3D modeling programs on your Mac, but I don't know if performance would be adequate.

Re: 5 Very Weird URL Shorteners

More like 3 URL shorteners and 2 lengtheners.

Re: John’s Computer

Haha.
