Good overall. I am still waiting for the changes to take effect on my account though.

What I am worried about is the not-so-savvy user. I have had great trouble explaining Twitter to friends who swear by Facebook. I hope these changes bring home the message of the realtime web.

The government does realise this. They just want to play politics.

I say if one is a citizen of the country he better at least respect the law of the land. If they don't, they lose the privileges the country lets them have.

There's an entity going out of it's way alright. But how much sense does broadcasting covert operation on live TV make? Proactivity is one thing. Sheer insensitivity is another.

Oh i should have said our courts said the killings were legal but the European Court of Human Rights ruled the so-called "Death on the Rock" killings breached the European Convention of Human Rights and we had to pay the IRAs legal costs.

In England when the IRA were at the height of their power, our government made it law that the leaders of the IRA political wing were banned from talking on TV. We had the ridiculous situation where the media showed the video of them in interviews but had an actor saying the words they had said, so in effect the IRA weren't actually talking on TV but we still heard what they had said. I would like the forces round the world to take no prisoners in cases like Mumbai. Just shoot them dead and then they dont get their day in court. The SAS tried that once. The IRA were in Gibraltar to bomb Brits. The SAS knew their plans and shot them all dead on the street. The IRA took the British goverment to court claiming their men were killed illegaly. It makes your blood boil.

Besides, I am not letting the media decide. I am tired of letting them decide. I am just asking them to shut up and try to look beyond their immediate interests.

Are you suggesting the system might work better if the scobles you mention weren't part of it? Hmm... Interesting idea. In the absence of TV and/or a mass media infrastructure, users is all Twitter has. So spreading the word through some of the more ubiquitous usernames shouldn't be seen as objectionable.

As for the iTwote thing, I agree and we will channel announcements and reminders from that account now.

Wish there was a better way of deciding the intrinsic value of a user. We are trying to be as accurate as possible. In real elections, regardless of a candidate's agenda, people also vote for the personality or the family he/she came from, don't they?

We are not saying this will prove anything. Just that this will help us make a more streamlined process next time.

Even PayPerPost has full disclosure. The objection to Magpie must stem from the fact that a blog (when it is a blog and not a site) is assumed to have a personal voice behind it.

In case of Twitter, it is PEOPLE telling you what THEY are doing. If every five tweets later, someone decided to tell you about a fantastic new restaurant because they are being paid for it and they have never even visited, it would (IMHO) disappoint their followers.

Where you share your photos would depend on why you want to share them. If you are a pro photog and want to showcase your work then Flickr and/or Picasa work fine.

If you are a casual clicky (like me) and don't care about quality or art and just want to send them to your friends, then Facebook or even Friendfeed directly work ok.

I agree that there will always be those out to milk the system (that's us by the way - the system AND the milkmaids). I think the focus of the question has shifted from getting feedback to distinguishing feedback from noise. That of course depends on us (as you said).

I agree. We get to read a lot about the oneness of things that it never appears anything but a metaphor. But when you look at the concept closely, you start wondering why nobody sees it that way.

For most (and for me as well) Friendfeed doesn't work for two reasons. The people I need are not there. They are on Facebook. Secondly, FF needs to become less bewildering. Facebook can become a little friendfeed. It allows integration of various web services like Google reader, Stumbleupon, Last.FM, Flickr, Picasa etc.

And you CAN integrate Twitter search feed for your own name into FF. Just pick up the RSS feed for the search and let FF pull it.
