The NJDNC does not want Dagget to win, right?
They're trying to convince Republicans to vote for him, right?

Add those two things together and you get a robocall to support someone they don't want to win.

The NJDSC is trying to get votes for a particular candidate without telling the people they're talking to that the NJDSC doesn't actually want that guy to win. They're making it look like they support him when they really don't.

Twitter's direct message notification is a perfect example of the Don't Break Email anti-pattern. Basecamp used to break email but then implemented a clever reply-handling feature.
