Mikael, changing the tax rate on startup stock options is a drop in the tax bucket. It's not at all anything like changing to a US tax model.

Worth noting that Sweden (which creates unicorns at the same rate per capita as SV) has no tax breaks for founders - stock options are taxed as income.

Of course one can have a private site protected by a password. But if you ever get around to doing a large event yourself, you'll realize there are lots of partners with multiple team members that all want access etc. And frankly, this isn't very important info that needs to be carefully hidden. What's the worst that could happen? Well, thanks to you, we now know! Except, this blog post still shouldn't have happened because I clearly told you beforehand that the site was not launched, and that women speakers were being added before this post. Which you seemed to shamefully ignore.

My comment was for the poster - just like this one is for you - as her email was not listed, and was also deleted [clear your browser cache] A blog comment would be a rather odd way to launch a 3000 attendee event btw.

Michael, please get the facts straight.

1. The event had not yet been announced. It was leaked. In fact it still has not been announced.
2. I told you directly that the site is not yet launched, I also told you directly that there are women speakers, which were being added to the site before launch - and were added the next day.
3. The next day you wrote your post nearly the same time I added the women speakers to the site.

As I stated before you wrote your post - there are women speakers.

The only problem with "the process" here is that I assumed nobody would leak the site before finished.

The women speakers, women's party, and women's panel make it perfectly clear that this event is very favorable towards women in tech.

James, let's not discount the simple fact that SSS is itself one of the much loved additions to the startup scene in Stockholm. You are doing an exemplary job, and play a very important role in the community for which I and everyone I meet are endlessly thankful. Well done!

From my experience, Google and Microsoft have actually been very helpful. Google Campus in London was a game changer for that community. Microsoft sponsoring STHLM TECH Meetup is also a huge help to the community. I agree with the idea that generally speaking large corps are not to be confused with being part of the community, but it should be noted that certain big companies really do provide much support to the community.

This has very little to do with my work, so not my focus, but the US does the exact same as Sweden in this case. Clearly both should change their policies.
