We will all miss Friendfeed dearly, which clearly led the way as THE pioneer to the social experiences we enjoy to this day. The FF community is amazing. So many friends and connections all from Friendfeed. :) While I'm sad, I'm also very grateful for the experience. Thanks FF team!

I think social media as a whole is in for a reality check. The hype is deflating and real business value is surfacing (or not!). This is where the smoke clears and we all see what remains... shall be interesting to see what is revealed in due time.

I love seeing stories on SM listening command centers... Personally, I am proud of the one we launched at Dell as I was on the core launch team. It's still evolving in terms of capabilities and scale. I wish there was a master list of all the command centers with a comparison of key strengths and best practices.

Thanks Jody, that was my post; appreciate you sharing it here.

I am co-managing the +Dell business page on Google+ (I lead our @dell account on twitter.).

Our team was trying to figure out the key differences on the business page features vs. personal profiles, so I did what Google would do - Search! and then I shared my findings ... a nice tidy explanation on a Google+ help page. Glad it helped so many!

First, I should disclose that I work for Dell.

Just read this blog post and while I too see an upswing in mobile device, I do not think said devices are optimal for getting real work done. Just like @Ben M. Schorr said, we all want to have powerful systems with dual monitors, real keyboards, mice, fast internet connections, etc. As I type this, I am on my Dell latitude laptop sporting dual 24"monitors on a very fast internet connection - NOT my tablet, not my smartphone or my tiny netbook.

Real work gets done on powerful desktop and laptop systems. I welcome the day we can use mobile device with as much power and utility - we're just not there yet. The devices are still evolving.

As we embrace the cloud model more and more, PCs do become less required to run local apps, so this means we have greater access to our data in the cloud which is accessible by a number of devices: PC, laptop, tablet, smartphone, and hybrid devices, et al.

I think the real rub is in the interfaces - PC and laptop interfaces still rule. How can I edit complex reports, infographics and photos on a small screen device? This is where PC and laptops win big time... until the interfaces (screen, keyboards, etc) are easier to use & the internet speeds get on par with their big brother counterparts (PCs), then I'll stick to my faster PCs and laptops.
