The opt out is the biggie. Whatever team would take him will get out of the back end of the deal. Also why he’s of little value to the Mets. He’ll opt out by the time they’re any good.

Cohen/Stearns need to realize that this bunch is fatally flawed. It’s time.
Dump Mendoza (whether it’s his fault or not)
Trade every single veteran they can. I know it’s close to impossible, but do what it takes to move Soto and/or Lindor. They’ll de in Depends before this team ever gets good.
Get prospects back and play whoever is remotely close to ready.
Burn it all down NOW while you’re the only seller in the market.
